Equestrians may choose their challenge from the options below:
Division Option #1- LIBERTY: Complete 10 LIBERTY and/or Tricks sessions from June 26th - September 3rd.
OR
Division Option #2- Versatility: Complete 10 activities with your horse in one or more of the following disciplines: riding, driving, or groundwork sessions (such as tricks, showmanship, liberty work, and long lining) 5/10 sessions MUST be LIBERTY/TRICKS from June 26th - September 3rd.
Have you ever wanted to try Liberty with your horse? Liberty training is about the communication and building a beautiful partnership using groundwork with your horse without the use of tack or restraints. The horse has the freedom to choose when to work with you or if they need a break. It requires patience, practice, and doesn’t happen overnight however, your horse will likely catch on quick- especially if you're going to the barn more than once a week! Beginners do start with the horse on the line or lead rope, teach simple cues as they learn to move the horse away from themselves, towards and around themselves. You may wish to add a few minutes of Liberty training into your sessions before or after a ride, or just try it out for some ground work and grooming!
The Rules
Unlike many other equestrian incentive riding programs, Equisarte Show's challenges are open to ALL breeds and riding styles!
Q: What counts? A: Liberty activities and Tricks count towards this challenge for division #1! For Division #2 riding, driving, or groundwork sessions (such as tricks, showmanship, liberty work, and long lining) count however, 5/10 sessions MUST be LIBERTY/TRICKS.
Q: How much time should I spend? A: That's up to you! When training tricks and liberty we suggest doing a few short sessions and often, however each equestrian should decide what is the best amount of time per activity for themself and their horse! For example- ask your horse to "Kiss" you 10 times, then move on to a different trick or activity.
Q: How many activities can I count per day? A: You can count up to 2 activities per horse per day, for example: an AM/PM groundwork session.
Q: Do I have to do 10 different Liberty activities or Tricks? A: No! You can work on the same Trick or Liberty Activity and try it 10 different times to help your horse understand it better!
Q: How many horses can I use? A: Use one or multiple horses to complete the challenge. If you want a ribbon for each horse you will have to register separately for each one.
Q: Do I need to submit a photo or video for each ride? A: Our challenges are on the honor system. We do encourage photo or video posts on our Facebook Group!
Q: Can I count my 10 Liberty activities towards my 25 Saddle Up Activities? A: Yes! You can combine 10 activities from this challenge to count towards the Saddle Up Challenge or make it a new 10 to complete if you already finished Saddle Up!
