What is the Equestrian Fitness Challenge?
This challenge is meant to help motivate you, stay focused, and stay accountable as you work towards your own fitness goals to become a more rounded and stronger equestrian and athlete! Many equestrians find that riding just isn't enough- additional fitness routines are essential for our sport. What physical fitness goals do you have? Do you want to be more flexible? Try Yoga! Do you need to work on your endurance? Try jogging/running or high intensity interval training! Do you need some motivation to get outside and get some daily exercise in? Go for a walk! Do you want to work on your strength? Do some weight lifting! For this challenge you will choose and create your own workouts. Take the time to invest in yourself- your horse will thank you! Workout sessions are meant to be complete without riding a horse. You will be able to stay accountable by logging your workout sessions and by joining our awesome social media community sites to share your progress! Complete at least 25 workout sessions from September 15th through November 30th (about 2-3 activities sessions per week). Entrants will receive a beautiful Neck Rosette upon completion! Neck rosette is similar in size to a runner's medal- wear yours proudly upon finishing and post your photo on our social media sites! Cost to participate - $35.00 for Neck Rosette (includes shipping). Limited spots available- our challenges sell out quickly so be sure to sign up right away!

How might this challenge help me as an equestrian?
This challenge may help you:
- Set and accomplish goals!
- Maintain your strength, fitness, and flexibility- Fitness not only benefits your horse’s body position, but also your body position.
- Build muscle, improve communication with your horse, and increase relaxation.
- Implementing workouts into a rider's life may reduce the risk for injuries including straining your muscles or your horses muscles while riding. A tired rider becomes an unbalanced rider which makes it harder for the horse to compensate for your position. A fit rider helps maintain their balanced position, which in turn allows you to have a better communication with your horse, a better reaction time, and breathe!
- Become a stronger rider- A strong core will also allow a rider to ask for more collection and self-carriage in the horse while absorbing its motion.
- Increase your endurance- adding cardio into your workout sessions allows for the body to gain more stamina and endurance. Stamina is important to allow a rider to have a strong body position and movements for longer periods of time in the saddle no matter what discipline you do.
- Make new friends as you share your journey!
